Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

(Sioux Falls, SD) - In light of the recent news about steroid use in baseball and the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative (BALCO), the Sioux Falls Canaries Professional Baseball Club has announced BALCO* (*Be Gone) Night, and guarantees only good CLEAN fun.

The Canaries, in their tradition of seeing the lighter side of life, have set aside their Monday, May 23rd game vs. rival Sioux City for the event. All fans entering the stadium will receive a valuable specimen cup. Canaries fans will be randomly tested all evening. All fans will be tested by the end of the night. Fans will also be able to use their cups to sample free Mello Yellow. Each cup will also have random number printed on it. Some cups will have the numbers 11, 25 and 33, which correspond to the uniform numbers of MLB players who have purportedly used banned substance. Fans that find another fan with a matching number will win valuable prizes.

Other activities scheduled for BALCO (Be Gone) Night include a video wall game called "Juice or Juiced?", The Marion Jones "Two Fat Guys Not-on-Steroids" Race, Public Address announcer Dan Christopherson going through wild mood swings, and fans voting on the All-Time "Non-Steroid" Baseball Team.

Although the Canaries approach is lighthearted, they realize the seriousness of the issue. Local medical authorities will be on hand to explain the disastrous results of steroid use. Canaries General Manager John Kuhn says "Obviously we are concerned about this issue and the problems facing our great game. We want our fans to know that we recognize that steroid use at any level is serious; however why not try to have fun at the expense of a few multi-millionaires?"

Canaries open the 2005 season on Friday, May 20th at 7:00PM. Great ticket packages are now available and may be ordered by calling 605-333-0179 or visiting our website at www.canariesbaseball.com.
