Bluefish lose to Newark, 4-1

Bridgeport, CT – August 27, 2004 – The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the Newark Bears, 4-1, in front of 5,395 fans at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Newark got on the board early in the second inning when Chris Jones and Keith Maxwell crossed home plate, putting the Bears up 2-0.

Bridgeport's Willis Otanez responded in the bottom of the inning when he hit a solo homerun over the left field wall, moving the ‘Fish within one run of the Bears.

The scoring continued in the third inning when Newark picked up another run when Michael Coleman hit a homerun, making the score 3-1.

Newark's Jason Dewey hit a solo homerun to center field in the top of the seventh and increased their lead to 4-1.

Bluefish starter Kevin Henthorne went seven innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, with two strikeouts and one walk. Shane Arthurs came in for the ‘Fish and pitched the final two innings.

Bridgeport will wrap up a best of three game series against the Newark Bears on Saturday with a 7:05 p.m. start at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. ZOOperstars return to the ballpark tomorrow night for the last time this season.
