[Macon, Ga.]The Macon Trax are about to enter their first year in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). After a league wide vote, the SPHL has decided to play a 56 game schedule this coming season.

The Trax anticipated a 60 games schedule, thus sold their season tickets packages based on 30 home dates. The change in games will reduce the Trax home schedule to 28.

All fans who have purchased season tickets will receive two choice tickets in their season ticket booklets. The two choice tickets can be used at any Trax regular season or playoff game during the 2004-05 season.

The majority of the league felt it would be better financially to reduce the schedule to 56 games. said Trax General Manager Joe Suk. The goal of the new league is to keep all their teams around for many years to come and this should ensure that.

Last season the Trax played 55 regular season games and finished in third place in the regular season. After sweeping the Alabama Slammers in the league semi-finals, the Trax lost to Jacksonville in the finals. It marked the first time any Macon hockey team advanced to a championship round.

On the ice, Trax center David Deeves won the leagues Most Valuable Player Award. Also, Head Coach Tommy Stewart was named the leagues top coach in his rookie year behind the bench.

All the success on the ice and off the ice earned the Trax the Organization of the Year Award. The entire Trax staff hopes to repeat last years success with an even better year for the fans.
