Vero Beach Devil Rays News Release
(Vero Beach, FL) - Errors in the late innings opened the door for the visiting Dunedin Blue Jays to knock off the Vero Beach Dodgers 3-1 Tuesday night. RHP Chad Billingsley turned in another gem, allowing only one earned run over seven innings, but 2B Delwyn Young's error with two outs and the bases loaded in the seventh allowed the go-ahead run to score and saddle Billingsley with the loss. Two more Dodger errors in the ninth inning allowed another unearned run to cross the plate, which proved to be more than enough for the Blue Jays.
LHP Kurt Isenberg started the game and handcuffed the Dodgers over six innings to pick up the win, allowing only a C Russell Martin solo home run. The Dodgers got a single by SS Joel Guzman and a walk by Young in the ninth inning, but RHP Edward Buzachero induced a long flyout by PH Scott Gillitzer to end the game and earn his second save in as many nights and sixth of the year.
The Dodgers start a four-game road set with the Sarasota Red Sox Wednesday evening at 7:05 PM. The Dodgers hand the ball to RHP Dimas Reina to begin the series.
