Grand Rapids, MI – Springfield Falcons rookie goaltender David LeNeveu (leh-NEHV-yoo) made 16 saves on 21 shots for the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars as the Canadian squad claimed a 9-5 win in the 2004 AHL All-Star Game in front of 9,220 at Van Andel Arena on Monday night. LeNeveu suited up for the PlanetUSA team after injuries to two goaltenders caused the AHL to switch the Fernie, British Columbia native from the Canadian squad.

LeNeveu replaced Rochester Americans goaltender Ryan Miller in the PlanetUSA net with 9:04 remaining in the second period while the Canadian AHL All-Star team held a 4-2 lead. The Falcons rookie stopped seven of 10 shots over the remainder of the middle frame and turned aside nine of 11 shots in the third period.

Lowell Lock Monsters center Mike Zigomanis, who posted a goal and two assists, was named the Pepsi All-Star Most Valuable Player. The contest marked the fifth consecutive win for the Canadian All-Stars in the AHL's annual midseason game.

Injuries to PlanetUSA goaltenders Kari Lehtonen of the Chicago Wolves and Rastislav Stana of the Portland Pirates left the team with just one netminder creating the need to have LeNeveu change squads for the game. Stana competed in the AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, but was not able to play in Monday's game. Lehtonen did not participate in the All-Star Skills Competition, but did attend and was recognized for his All-Star selection during the weekend events. LeNeveu stopped 15 of 19 shots for the Canadian AHL All-Stars to register the second-best save percentage (.789) among five goaltenders in Sunday's AHL All-Star Skills Competition.
