Harrisburg, PA - Two Harrisburg Senators were named the Washington Nationals' Minor League Pitcher and Player of the Year. RHP Jordan Zimmermann, who spent most of 2008 on City Island, was selected as the Pitcher of the Year. INF/OF Leonard Davis took home the honors as Player of the Year.

Zimmermann, 22, was a second-round selection by the Nationals in the 2007 draft out of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. His 134 strikeouts and 2.89 ERA were tops among Nationals' farmhands and his ten wins were tied for most in the organization.

The right-hander opened the year at Advanced-A Potomac, where he went 3-1 with a save and a 1.65 ERA in five games. Zimmermann was promoted to Harrisburg in early May and went 7-2 with a 3.21 ERA in 20 starts. Entering this season, the Auburndale, Wisconsin native was rated the Nationals' #7 prospect by Baseball America.

Davis, 24, made a meteoric rise through the minor-league ranks, opening the season in extended spring training and finishing with Triple-A Columbus. He led all Nationals' minor-leaguers with 25 home runs and finished in the top five in batting average (.308) and RBIs (76). Davis was selected by the Expos in the 8th round of the 2004 draft out of Fresno City College in his home state of California.

After recovering from a wrist injury, Davis was activated by Potomac on April 19. He hit .332 and clubbed 14 home runs for the P-Nats in just 63 games. Davis had a short but electifying stopover in Harrisburg, going 20-for-41 at the plate and hitting four home runs in ten games before a quick promotion to Columbus. After a tough July with the Clippers, Davis finished the season with a .239 batting average and seven homers.

The Harrisburg Senators finished the 2008 season with a 73-69 record, their best mark since 2002. Season tickets for 2009 can be ordered by calling the Senators' box office at (717) 231-4444 or online at senatorsbaseball.com.
