New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Ruddy Lugo came into Sunday's game with three hits in 21 at-bats, and with a 6.50 ERA over his last 13 starts. He turned that all that around in just one afternoon.
Lugo hurled seven scoreless innings, and delivered a two-run homer and later a two-run double at the plate to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs to a 6-0 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes.
The right-hander struck out eight to earn only his third win since April 27.
His two-run homer off Albuquerque starter Bobby Keppel in the second gave the Zephyrs a 3-0 lead. After the Isotopes made a pitching change in the sixth, bringing in Taylor Tankersley to face Lugo, the Zephyrs' pitcher drove a double into the right-center field gap, giving him his third and fourth runs batted in of the game.
Chris Aguila added two hits and an RBI, and is now 6-for-10 with three RBI in three games since returning from the New York Mets.
Tim McNab held the Isotopes hitless over two innings to nail down the Zephyrs' league-leading 10th save.
The Zephyrs go after the series win against Albuquerque on Monday at 12:00 p.m., with RHP Brian Stokes facing RHP Dallas Trahern.
