
Zapolski Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that goaltender Ryan Zapolski has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for November 26-December 2.
Zapolski, 26, went 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .967 in two appearances last week. The Erie, Pennsylvania, native made 26 saves in a 3-2 win against Reading on Friday and stopped all 34 shots in a 2-0 victory over Gwinnett on Saturday.
Zapolski is 5-4-0 with one shutout, a 1.49 goals-against average and a save percentage of .948 in nine appearances with South Carolina this season. He also appeared in two games earlier this year with Gwinnett and leads the ECHL with a 1.58 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage.
In 26 career ECHL games with South Carolina, Gwinnett, Toledo and Kalamazoo, Zapolski posted an overall record of 15-8-1 with three shutouts, a 2.05 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage.
Prior to turning pro, Zapolski skated for four seasons at Mercyhurst College appearing in 109 games going 48-43-11 with eight shutouts, a 2.77 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920.
