Yuma Scorpions News Release
The Yuma Scorpions were able to get some strong pitching out of their #1 and #2 starters for the first time this season. Both Roger Luque and Jorge Perez were able to walk away from the weekend with their first wins of the season.
Roger Lugue went 7 brilliant innings allowing only 5 runs before being pulled. Luque got strong offensive support in the form of two 5 spots being put up in the first 3 innings before he was able to get a ten run lead in the 6th.
Jorge Perez decided that he wanted to show up his pitching coach, Luque, by going out the next night and going 7 innings allowing only 2 runs, only 1 earned, and scattering 6 hits. Perez also struck out 7 before being pulled for some relievers. Jean Carlos Guillen came away with the save after being brought in with 1 out in the ninth and only a 2 run lead.
The Scorpions hope to continue their offensive and pitching strength in their net game on Monday to finish the series off against the Armada.
