Sacramento Republic FC News Release

Republic FC's youth squads were on the pitch again this past weekend, taking on Atletico Santa Rosa for the second time this season in MLS NEXT play. Recording one win and two draws, the squads continued their quest to stay near the top of the standings with a trio of strong performances.

The U13 squad extended their undefeated season with a 3-0 win over the North Coast club. A goal from defender Luiggi Supo in the 12th minute of play would be enough for the squad to earn all three points, before second-half scores from Troy Raneses and Szymon Sztejna would add assurance to the lead.

The U14s and U16s each rounded out the day with a point, as both settled for 2-2 draws. For the U14s, Grayson Utush opened the scoring early in the second half while Evin Galvan's late strike made way for split points as Santa Rosa leveled the game in the final moments of the match. A similar storyline occured for theU16s as Sacramento pulled ahead first as the two squads traded scores in a back and forth contest. Scores from Preston Danquah-Appiah netted the game's first goal in the 5th minute and re-gaining the the lead in the 41st minute via a Sean Baitinger strike before settling for split points.

Looking ahead

Republic FC's academy has a full slate of games on the schedule this weekend. All five squads will take on Diablo Valley FC for the second time in a month on Saturday, before the U13 and U14s take on Woodside SC Crush and the U16s travel to San Jose to face FC Bay Area Surf. Last time out against Diablo Valley FC on the road, Republic FC put on a strong showing, earning four-of-five wins and outscoring their opponents 16-5.
