Youth Football Ironman of the Year award returns for second season
August 3, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
The Chicago Rush will recognize some of Chicagoland's best young football players this fall with its second-annual Youth Football Ironman of the Year award, the team announced today.
The award is patterned after the Arena Football League's Ironman style in which players perform in all three facets of the game - offense, defense and special teams. However, with the Youth Football Ironman of the Year award, winners are selected based upon sportsmanship, leadership and playing ability.
Last fall, 240 kids received congratulatory letters from Rush owner Mike Ditka, a Chicago Rush Ironman of the Year T-shirt and two complimentary tickets to a Chicago Rush home game as the inaugural winners of the award.
"The Rush is proud to support youth football in our community," said Rush president/general manager Mike Polisky. "And with the return of the Youth Football Ironman of the Year award, we again will be able to recognize the wealth of talented players who also demonstrate sportsmanship, leadership and dedication to their teams."
To enroll their team in the program, youth football coaches should contact Laura Visin at (773) 243-3439 or lvisin@chicagoush.com by September 15.
