Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Rampage quarterback Chad Salisbury (Kentwood, Mich.) and Michael Baker (Grand Rapids, Mich.), offensive and special teams coordinator, will tee off with local law enforcement officials and troubled youths tomorrow (Aug. 4) at the eighth annual Cops Fore Kids Golf Outing at the Fellowship Greens Golf Course.
The Rampage representatives will team up with officers from Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Kentwood and other surrounding districts as they hit the links alongside local teens who are on juvenile probation or who are considered "at risk." Salisbury and Baker will address the youths following a continental breakfast and nine-hole scramble event.
"Any time you can try to better a child's life and give them a goal to shoot for it's a great thing," said Baker, who has played in the event for four years. "All these kids need is someone to encourage them and they might become a future leader of this country some day."
An estimated 50 law enforcement agents and 50 teens will gather on the greens. Also attending will be local television personalities Rachel Ruiz and Peter Ross, along with Judge Paul Sullivan, chief circuit judge of Kent County. Friday's outing marks the fifth consecutive year the Rampage have taken part in the event, with past participants including Rampage fullback/linebacker Chris Avery, kicker Peter Martinez and Sparky McEwen, Rampage head coach and director of football operations.
Media interested in attending the event or those wishing to donate to the year-long program should contact Cops For Kids committee member Angela DeWinter at 616-632-5337 or via email at angela.dewinter@kentcounty.org.
