Young, Selman and Williams Listed on NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term Rankings

Sioux Falls, SD - NHL Central Scouting released their mid-term rankings for the 2012 NHL Draft today. The draft will take place June 22-23 at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Austyn Young, Justin Selman and Stephon Williams are listed. All three players will participate in the USHL/NHL Prospects Game on Tuesday, January 24th in Muskegon, MI.

NHL Central Scouting Service provides leagues and team directories, schedules and rosters for dozens of leagues and tournaments in North American and Europe that have NHL prospects participating in them. They release a preliminary, mid-term and final ranking at the end of the season.

Players are ranked as North American Skaters, North American Goalies, European skaters and European goaltenders. The top 210 skaters and 36 goaltenders from North America were ranked. Young is listed 100th amongst North American Skaters while Selman is 175th. Williams ranks 23rd among North American Goaltenders.

Young is in second year with the Stampede and is second on the team in scoring with 13 points (6g, 7a) in 23 games. A native of South St. Paul, Minnesota, Young registered 32 points (11g, 21a) and was a +14 in 54 games last season with Sioux Falls. Young is already committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Selman is in his second season in the USHL and his first with the Stampede. The Upper Saddle River, New Jersey native is tied for the Stampede lead in scoring with 14 points (3g, 11a) in 27 games. His 10 assists are a team high. Selman spent last season with the Des Moines Buccaneers, recording 22 points (8g, 14a) in 52 games. He is committed to the University of Michigan.

Williams is in the midst of his second season with the Stampede. He ranks fifth amongst USHL goaltenders with a 2.54 GAA. He is 6-8-1 on the year and has a .919 save percentage, second best in the USHL.

Williams, a native of Fairbanks, Alaska, recorded 20 wins, a 2.59 GAA and a .909 save percentage last year with the Herd. The Minnesota State University, Mankato recruit went 4-1 with a 2.21 GAA and a .924 save percentage in the playoffs while leading the Herd to the Western Conference Finals.

A total of 35 players currently skating in the USHL were ranked amongst North American players and 7 goaltenders were rated.

The 2012 NHL Entry Draft takes place on June 22-23 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Last year, a total of 37 players with USHL experience - 28 from the 2010-11 season and nine USHL alumni - were selected by NHL teams in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
