Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz will host the Lubbock Renegades on Saturday, July 28th for their final home game of the regular season. Late season struggles have dropped the Yard Dawgz to 7-8, but their playoff hopes are still alive.
Eight teams from each conference (National and American) qualify for the playoffs. Oklahoma City is currently 7th in the National Conference and the Renegades 9th. The Dawgz need a win on Saturday to secure their 4th consecutive playoff appearance. If Lubbock would upset Oklahoma City by three or more points, the Tennessee Valley Vipers (currently 8th) would have to lose to the Louisville Fire on Saturday for the Yard Dawgz to make the playoffs.
The Yard Dawgz and Renegades met earlier this season (5/19/07) in which Oklahoma City defeated Lubbock, 64-61. In that contest, QB Stan Hill was 22-of-40 for 342 yards and 7 TDs. The Yard Dawgz have lost 5 of their last 8 games since meeting the Renegades in Week 8.
Despite late season struggles, Head Coach John Fitzgerald is optimistic about the future. "We control our own destiny," he said. "It really doesn't matter what anyone else does, we're in the driver's seat."
All Yard Dawgz games will be broadcast live on KTOK AM1000 and KGFF AM1450 and also online at www.ktok.com and www.kgff.com featuring the voice of the Yard Dawgz, Mike Frazer.
Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CST. For more information, please call 405.228.3294 or visit www.okcyarddawgz.com.
