
Yandle, Zagrapan win QMJHL player of the week awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 21, 2005 (QMJHL) - Chicoutimi Saguenéens center Marek Zagrapan and Moncton Wildcats defenseman Keith Yandle were named offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from November 14th to 20th.
In three games, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens center totalled two goals and seven assists, leading his team to three consecutive wins. His best performance was a five point effort against the Halifax Mooseheads last Saturday, which earned him the game's first star in a 6-3 win in front of 3,969 spectators at the Georges-Vézina Center. Chicoutimi now leads the Western division standings with nineteen victories in twenty-seven tries.
Stanislav Lascek (2-6-8) of Chicoutimi, Alexander Radulov (4-2-6) of Quebec and Rane Canergie (3-4-7) of Halifax were also considered.
The defensive player of the week award goes to Wildcats defenseman Keith Yandle for a second consecutive week. In three games, the Moncton blue-liner scored four goals, including the game-winner against the St. John's Fog Devils yesterday, and accumulated three helpers. Last Friday in Val-d'Or, he had two goals and two assists in a 7-4 victory over the Foreurs. He leads QMJHL defensemen in scoring with 37 points in 25 games. Yandle also leads the team in scoring.
Other players considered for the defensive player of the week award were goaltenders Cédrick Desjardins (3-0-0; 1 SO; 180 MP; 1.33 GAA; .956 SAV%) of Quebec and Jonathan Bernier (3-0-0; 180 MP; 2.33 GAA; .923 SAV%) of Lewiston as well as defenseman Marc-Ãdouard Vlasic (1-3-4) of Quebec.
