QMJHL All-Stars win first game of ADT Canada-Russia Challenge

DRUMMONDVILLE, Monday, November 21, 2005 (QMJHL) - The first game of the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge saw the QMJHL team, represented by its elite, defeat the Russian All-Star 7-4. The game was played in front of a sellout crowd (3,012) at the Marcel Dionne Center.

Head Coach Clément Jodoin was very pleased with his team's showing. "You have to give a lot of credit to the players who showed a lot of intensity tonight throughout the game. They offered the fans a great show. I lift my hat to them."

The Voltigeurs players contributed in large part to the win. Guillaume Latendresse had a hat trick and an assist as fans chanted his name on several occasions during the game as he won player of the game honours on the QMJHL side. Frédéric St-Denis and Derick Brassard also shined. Also, goaltender Pier-Olivier Pelletier made 22 stops in the win. Guillaume's brother, Olivier Latendresse, had two assists.

"We played a very physical game tonight, and I think it had a major impact on the outcome," mentioned Guillaume Latendresse. The other scorers for the QMJHL team were Alex Bourret and Brent Aubin.

The player of the game for Russia was Quebec Remparts forward Alexander Radulov. He scored a goal and added two assists. He's currently among the League leaders in points with 53 in 21 games for the Remparts. His teammates Mayer (2 goals) and Makarov (1 goal) completed the scoring for the Russian team.

The next game of the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge is next Wednesday, November 23, in Moncton. The six game series then heads West as the Russian selects face both the OHL and WHL All-Stars.
