Y'alls Shut Out Against Lake Erie
August 12, 2022 - Frontier League (FL)
Florence Y'alls News Release
Avon, Ohio - The Florence Y'alls (31-44) received a gem of a start from Bobby Brabrand. They also received their second shutout loss of the season, a 2-0 defeat against the Lake Erie Crushers (37-39) at Mercy Health Stadium on Friday.
Brabrand threw seven innings of one-run ball, striking out a season-high seven batters and limiting traffic on the bases. Matt Mulhearn, Lake Erie's starter, was just a tad better. Mulhearn's 7.1 shutout innings, along with relief pitchers Nathan Holt and Alexis Rivero, combined to shut the Y'alls out.
Lake Erie scored its first run in the third inning on a delayed stolen base play, with former Y'all Casey Combs coming in to score. Kemuel Thomas-Rivera added an RBI single in the eighth inning for the second run.
Florence made the Crushers work for their outs, though. The Y'alls got the tying run on base in the top of the ninth inning, but could not move any further. In all, the Y'alls left eight runners on base, adding to the frustration.
The Y'alls have been shutout victims only twice this season, with both coming at the hands of Lake Erie. Florence has now lost five in a row, but sends its ace to the mound tomorrow night. Jonaiker Villalobos is the probable starter for a 6:05 p.m. first pitch from Avon, Ohio.
