Boise, ID (January 16, 2004) — Yakima Sun Kings All-Star forward Torraye Braggs was signed to a 10-day contract by the Washington Wizards, it was announced today by the Continental Basketball Association League Office, and the Wizards front office. The CBA-to-NBA call-up is the sixth overall league call-up since the season began on November 14, and it is the second call-up from Yakima in nine days (Anthony Goldwire, January 7).

"Torraye is a physical, high-energy player who will add depth to our front court," said Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld.

Braggs, who played for the Houston Rockets until he was released on November 23, averaged 16.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in 10 games played (eight starts) for the Sun Kings. He also added 2.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting 47.2 percent (60 of 127) from the floor.

"We have had two guys get called up to the ultimate prize in the last two weeks," stated Sun Kings Head Coach Maz Trakh. "It says a lot for the league, and for our organization, to have three guys called up already this year."

The Sun Kings have now sent Zendon Hamilton (Philadelphia), Anthony Goldwire (Minnesota) and Braggs to the NBA this season.
