Xplorers lineman sticks with Carolina in AFL

Southaven, MS â Former Memphis Xplorers lineman Decorye Hampton will start the 2003 Arena Football League season on the roster of the Carolina Cobras. Last year Hampton played 11 games with the Xplorers af2 team. This season's Xplorers 2003 home opener is April 12th against the Bakersfield Blitz. "Decorye did a great job for us last season," Xplorers head coach Danton Barto said. "I am not surprised at all that he was able to advance to the next level. We knew that he was the type of player who would only spend one year in the af2 before moving to a higher level."
Hampton will debut with the Cobras this Friday night when Carolina plays at Tampa Bay. Hampton and the Cobras will appear on NBC regional broadcasts three times this season.

The Arena Football League will debut on NBC this Sunday. NBC will televise up to 70 regular season games and all playoff match-ups including the Arena Bowl.
