Xplorers Assigned Tennessee State Defensive Specialist

Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers have been assigned Defensive Specialist Scott Cunningham by the af2 league office.

Cunningham played four years for Tennessee State University, where he compiled a total of 180 tackles, including six for a loss of 29 yards. He added 26 pass breakups, seven interceptions, and three fumble recoveries.

During his senior season with the Tigers, Cunningham was fourth on the team in tackles with a total of 63. One of his two interceptions that season was returned for 34 yards for a touchdown. Cunningham led the Ohio Valley Conference in pass breakups during his junior season with 19

Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto commented on the recent assignment, "I believe that he has the tools to be a very good defensive specialist for us."

The former Tiger was a member of the All-Ohio Valley Conference Team during both his junior and senior seasons. He was signed as a free agent by the Tennessee Titans of the NFL, and was later released.

"Scott should provide valuable depth to our two way and defensive specialists positions," stated Xplorers Director of Player Personnel Chris Bauer. "Scott had a productive college career that was rewarded with an invitation to the Tennessee Titans camp this past summer. "

Cunningham graduated from Tennessee State prior to the start of his senior season with his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.
