Memphis Xplorers News Release
Southaven, MS â The Memphis Xplorers announced this afternoon that they will hold an open tryout on Saturday, January 18th, at Horn Lake High School at 10:15 AM. The Xplorers will be looking for candidates for the 2003 af2 season which begins at end of March. For more information call (662) -342-1755 or go online to www.xplorersaf2.com ..
âWe are looking for players who can compete at the professional level," said Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "This is a legitimate opportunity for players to get noticed. We found Carlos McNeary at a tryout camp last year and he has been a productive member of the squad as a wide receiver and defensive back.
Registration for the camp begins at 9:00 AM at Horn Lake High School. Cost is $40 per participant, payment may take the form of cash or money orders, absolutely no checks will be accepted. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and will perform a variety of drills.
"We'll have the athletes run the 40 yard dash, the 20 yard shuttle, do a standing broad jump and bench press 225 lbs as many times as they can," Barto said. âThis gives us an accurate assessment of the skills that a player has to offer."
All participants are required to bring work out attire such as shorts, cleats and workout gear.
