
Houston Added to Selesky's Training Camp Roster

ALBANY, NY â The 2002 Northeast Division Champions Albany Conquest have announced that OL/DL Alex Houston has signed a contract with the Buffalo Destroyers for the 2003 Arena Football League season. Houston will take part in first-year Head Coach, and 2002 af2 Coach of the Year, Ron Selesky's first AFL training camp.
Houston (6'4, 255), who played college football at Colgate University, was named to the All-af2 1st Team following the 2002 season. Starting all 16 games for the ConQuest, Houston ranked 2nd in the league in tackles for loss (10.0), 3rd in forced fumbles (4) and 8th in sacks (11.5). Houston finished the season with 29.5 total tackles (24 unassisted), one pass breakup and one fumble recovery. He spent the 2001 season with the New Jersey Gladiators (AFL), recording three solo tackles (one for a loss) and one pass breakup. Houston currently ranks sixth in Colgate history with 14 career sacks.
Houston becomes the third ConQuest player to sign with the Destroyers for 2003. The others, WR/DB Malik Campbell and WR/LB Mike Guazzo, will be with Houston in training camp fighting for a spot on the final roster.
In other AFL transaction news, OL/DL John Murphy (6'3, 285) from Kutztown University, has been signed to play for the New York Dragons in 2003. Murphy camp to training camp with the ConQuest in 2002, but was whisked away to the NFL, before being released prior to the start of the season. Murphy finished his career at Kutztown with 181 total tackles and 22 sacks, a total good enough for 2nd in school history.
