Xplorers Advance By Dusting Amarillo

Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 put together one of the strongest second half performances of the season to defeat the Amarillo Dusters 71-30 at the DeSoto Civic Center Friday night.

Army Ironman Terrell Adams, who had two catches for 37 yards and two touchdowns, one 11-yard passing TD, a fumble recovery for a TD, and five tackles, led Memphis. This is the fourth consecutive Memphis game that he has received the honor.

Offensive Specialist Kevin Prentiss continued his dominance against Amarillo with four catches for 58 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a 25-yard kick return. He was QB Brian Jones' favorite target of the evening. Jones had 7 receptions for 116 yards and four TDs. He also carried the ball eight times for 25 yards and a touchdown.

The defensive attack of the Xplorers limited a team that averaged 55.8 points per game during the regular season to only 30. Joseph Crear recorded a sack and a fumble recovery. He was named the ADT Defensive MVP. Dahnel Singfield added another strong defensive effort with 14 tackles and a fumble recovery.

"I thought we played very well in the second half," said Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "The guys responded to the half-time adjustments, and really impressed me tonight."

At halftime the Xplorers lead was 23-14. Steven Azar set an Xplorers franchise record with a 51-yard field goal in the first half. In the third quarter, the Xplorers outscored the Dusters 20-0 and took command of the game.

With the win the Xplorers advanced the National Conference Championship game to take place next Friday night at the DeSoto Civic Center at 7:30pm. They will face the winner of tomorrow nights' Tulsa and Rio Grande Valley game.
