November 3, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Austin Wranglers News Release
AUSTIN-The Austin Wranglers announce the signing of Arena Football League veteran fullback/linebacker Chad Dukes (6-1, 255, Pittsburgh), who will enter his seventh AFL season in 2007. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed, per team policy.
Over the course of an 11-year professional football career, Dukes has split time between the AFL (1996-98, 2002, 2004-06) and NFL (1998-2002). With the Philadelphia Soul last season, Dukes played in all 16 regular season games and two playoff games scoring seven touchdowns (six rushing, one receiving). He also recorded 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks on the year.
"Chad Dukes has established himself as a quality football player, boasting a successful career in both the AFL and NFL," said Wranglers General Manager Glyn Milburn. "With his addition to the team, we expect a contribution that will help guide the Wranglers to their best season to date."
Dukes won an ArenaBowl in 2005 with the Colorado Crush, playing on an offense coached by current Wranglers Head Coach Brian Partlow. He ranks fifth all-time in the AFL in rushing with 1,123 yards on 252 carries. In 2002, Dukes was the AFL's Ironman of the Year and was also a two-time All-Arena first team selection. Notably, while in the NFL, Dukes was a teammate of Wranglers part-owner Deion Sanders with the Washington Redskins in 2000.
Don't wait to get your season tickets to Ambush Arena in 2007. Coming off their most successful season in franchise history, the Wranglers are geared up for a run at ArenaBowl XXI.
