WR Joel Babb Returns to Roughnecks

ODESSA, TX. : Former Roughnecks WR Joel Babb is returning to Odessa to join the Roughnecks for the 2008 season. Babb was previously selected in the 22nd round, 127th overall by Alabama in the All-American Football League Draft on Saturday, January 26, 2008.
Babb (6'2", 201 lbs.) played at Alabama University from 1998 to 2002 before joining the Roughnecks in 2005 where he was a standout receiver and played a significant role on the 2006 championship squad. Babb set IFL receiving records for yards in a game (215) and for a season (1,507). Babb also caught 118 passes and 27 touchdowns that same season. He played with indoor teams Texas and Tupelo for the 2007 season. However, between the 2006 and 2007 seasons he recorded over 2,000 yards receiving and 33 touchdowns.
In the second half of the 2007 season, Babb was added to the Tennesse Valley Vipers roster of the Arena Football League 2. In 8 games played he collected 33 receptions for 507 yards and 13 touchdowns.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -
Odessa Roughnecks QB Dennis Gile has been named IFL Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Frisco Thunder in Week 8. Gile completed 16 of 32 passes for 243 yards. He also tossed 5 touchdown passes to 4 different wide outs and ran for 2 scores in the 74-41 win over the Thunder on Saturday, April 19, 2008.
Gile had a slow start to the 2008 season after suffering a separated shoulder to his right throwing arm at Fairbanks back on Saturday, March 22, 2008. However, Gile has come back strong the past two weeks having thrown for a combined 501 yards passing in wins over CenTex (4/12) and Frisco (4/19). During that span, Gile has collected 11 total touchdowns, 9 passing and 2 rushing.
