WR Conner Named IFL Offensive Player of the Week

ODESSA, TX. : Odessa Roughnecks Wide Receiver and Kick Returner Jimmy Conner (5'11", 190 lbs.) has been named the Intense Football League Offensive Player of the Week for Week 11. Conner caught 13 passes for 169 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Roughnecks loss to the Corpus Christi Hammerheads back on Saturday, May 10, 2008, 71-60. Conner caught touchdown passes of 5 yards, 14 yards, 32 yards and 17 yards. All 4 of his scores came in the first half of the losing effort. Conner also returned 5 kicks for 121 yards giving him 290 all-purpose yards in the game.

Conner also received IFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors this season for Weeks 6 and 7. In week 6 he returned a 47 yard kickoff for a touchdown against the Frisco Thunder on Sunday, April 6, 2008 and added a receiving touchdown to his stat totals that afternoon as Odessa won, 47-46. In Week 7 he returned 4 kicks for 112 yards for an average of 24.2 yards a return in the Roughnecks win over CenTex, 81-62, back on Saturday, April 12, 2008.

The former Central Missouri State wide out ranks first in the IFL averaging 200.9 all-purpose yards a game. He also ranks first among all Roughnecks wide receivers with 37 receptions, 522 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns. He has collected 1,018 kick return yards and 1 TD in '08. Conner enters this weekend averaging 22.6 yards a return. Odessa hosts the Alaska Wild on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Kickoff is at 7:11 P.M. from Benny Boyd Field.
