Kalamazoo Kings News Release

KALAMAZOO-"The Sports Station" AM 1660 WQSN announced today that Robert Ford will be the second "voice" of Kalamazoo Kings games on WQSN. Ford will join WQSN Program and Sports Director Ryan Maguire in the broadcast booth for all 45 Kings home games and will travel with the team, announcing all 45 road games. The games will also be available, free of charge, on the station's website, www.wqsn.com.

"We knew Rob was our man shortly after conducting our interview with him," says Maguire. "Out of the many resumes and tapes we received, he was far and away the most impressive. Rob will bring a real major-league sounding dynamic to the broadcasts. I'm looking forward to working with him."

Ford, 23, comes to Kalamazoo from Yakima, WA. This past year, he served as the radio voice of the Yakima Bears, the Class A Northwest League affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

A 2001 graduate of Syracuse University, Ford has held down print and radio sports reporting jobs in New York City and Syracuse. He has also worked with the Queens Kings, The Class A New York-Penn League affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Ford will be in Kalamazoo February 7-9 to meet station and team officials. He will make the move to Kalamazoo in April. "I'm very excited at the opportunity that Ryan and the staff at Fairfield Broadcasting have given me," says Ford. "I'm well aware of the Kings reputation as a fine organization. In my mind, opening day couldn't't come soon enough."

"The Sports Station" AM 1660 WQSN is Kalamazoo's only all-sports radio station. Locally owned and operated by Fairfield Broadcasting Company, WQSN broadcasts programming from both ESPN and FOX Sports Radio and has 10 hours of local sports programming weekly. WQSN is also the local rights holder for The Super Bowl, Michigan State Football and Basketball, Kalamazoo Wings Hockey and Kalamazoo Kings Baseball.
