Worcester Bravehearts News Release
WESTFIELD, MA - The Bravehearts dropped their fourth straight game on Thursday night, falling 6-5 to the Westfield Starfires. Despite coming back from a 5-2 deficit, the 'Hearts fell short allowing the go-ahead run in the eighth inning.
The Startfires struck first in the bottom of the fifth in a big way, scoring four runs. Back-to-back singles by Henry Martinez (Wagner) and Matt Garbowski (UCONN) brought up Braydon Seaburg (Quinnipiac), who then doubled both of them in. Shrewsbury native Pat Galvin (Augusta) followed with a single to plate Seaburg. Galvin stole third and scored on a groundout to shortstop for the fourth run of the inning.
The first run of the Bravehearts night came after Randy Flores (Franklin Pierce) tripled, and then scored on a Dakota Harris (Polk State) groundout to short. They followed with a run in the seventh after El Rico Riley (Jackson State) walked and advanced to third on a sac-fly. He then scored on a Nick Martin (Westfield State) single.
Worcester came storming back in the eighth to tie the game. RBI singles from Riley and Tayven Kelley (Penn State) scored Flores and Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic). After a Christian Siciliano (Southern Maine) walk to load the bases, Martin followed with a walk of his own to bring in Riley and tie the game.
The Starfires quickly answered in the bottom of the eighth inning. Hunter Pasqualini reached on an error by shortstop Dakota Harris, stole second and then advanced to third and scored on two wild pitches.
The Bravehearts return home tomorrow, Friday, June 11th at 6:30 p.m. against the Norwich Sea Unicorns, where they will debut their "Friday Night Bright" jerseys in partnership with Be The Match.
