Ten to Win - The Worcester Red Sox - who won 10-4 yesterday after a 10-1 victory on Wednesday night (following a 10-5 loss on Tuesday night) - look to build on their season-high mark of 10-games above .500 (at 58-48) when they play game four of their 6-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA-Philadelphia) tonight at 6:45 pm at Polar Park. Tonight's game is live on NESN+ and can be heard on NASH 98.9 FM.

Ten Above - At 58-48 on the year, Worcester is 10-games over .500 for the first time since they ended the 2023 season with a 79-68 record. The WooSox - coming off their best July ever (16-7) - remain hot starting August at 4-1. They have also won 6 of their last 7 games overall, 9 of their last 10 home games, are 13-2 since July 22, and have gone 22-7 since June 28. Worcester is also 22-13 in the 2nd half for a new high of 9-games above .500 since the 2nd half began on June 23.

Ten Pins - These two teams have scored exactly 10 runs in each of their respective victories the past three days to begin this 6-game series. Lehigh Valley a 10-5 win on Tuesday, Worcester a 10-1 triumph Wednesday night, and yesterday afternoon the WooSox pounded out 12 hits for the third straight game and scored 10 runs for the second game in a row as they continued their winning ways with a 10-4 victory over the IronPigs.

Stats This Season vs. Lehigh Valley - Worcester is hitting .317 in the 9 games vs. Lehigh Valley this season (103-for-325) with 11 HR for their best average against any International League opponent. Sox pitchers are 5-4 vs. the IronPigs with a 4.90 ERA (43 ER in 79 IP). The Sox have out-scored the Pigs, 59-43.

Coming Up Winners - The WooSox are 22-7 since June 28 while the Boston Red Sox are 26-3 since July 3 (and even more since then like 31-5 but we will stick with 26 of 29). So add that up and the two clubs have combined to go 48-10 in their last 58 games.

Where Things Stand - The Sox have pulled to within 11/2 games of 1st-place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and remain in 3rd-place in the division. The WooSox are bidding for their 6th winning season in this their 6th year in Worcester.

WooSox Player Moves - The WooSox were involved in a host of moves today. Catcher Andrew Knizner has been released and RHP Sam McWilliams was placed on the 7-day injured list (retroactive to August 5) with a right forearm strain. The WooSox added INF Romy Gonzalez following his option from Boston on Tuesday. And also today the WooSox added RHP John Brebbia who was signed by Boston as a free agent.

Lastly, late this afternoon...The Boston Red Sox selected left-handed pitcher Raymond Burgos from the WooSox and added him to their active Major League roster. To make room, Boston optioned right-handed pitcher Greg Weissert to Worcester. Weissert has not yet been added to the WooSox roster.

The Boston Red Sox have signed eight-year Major League veteran reliever John Brebbia and assigned him to Worcester. The 36-year-old righty, who was born in Boston and pitched at Sharon, MA High School, was added to the WooSox active roster today. Brebbia was released by Colorado this past Tuesday (August 4). He pitched in 3 games for the Rockies this season - 4.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO and worked in 13 games for Albuquerque (AAA-Colorado) going 0-1, 1.62 -16.2 IP, 17 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 19 SO. He also pitched in 15 games for St. Paul (AAA-Minnesota) this season going 1-0, 6.20 - 20.1 IP, 22 H, 14 R, 14 ER, 10 BB, 26 SO.

John was born in Boston and split his high school career between Sharon High School (a small town about 30 miles south of Boston) and later Wellington High School in Florida. He was chosen by the Yankees in the 30th round of the 2011 June Draft out of Elon University. In 379 career Major League games (358 in relief) he has a 16-22 record with a 4.12 ERA including 416 SO in 382.2 IP. He pitched for St. Louis from 2017-19, San Francisco from 2020-23 (and had one of his best seasons in 2022 when he appeared in 76 games (11 starts) and went 6-2 with a 3.18 ERA for the Giants), the White Sox & Atlanta in 2024, Detroit & Atlanta in 2025, and Colorado in 2026.
