Manchester Wolves News Release
The Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's professional arenafootball2 team, may have secured their first road win of the season last Friday, 50-40, against East Division rival Mahoning Valley Thunder but head coach Ben Bennett is still not satisfied. This week the Wolves have already tweaked their roster with two new additions in OL/DL Chad Motte and K Bobby Belmonte, who'll replace DB Ron Frazier and K Dylan Pohlman.
Motte (6'3, 325), comes to the Wolves from the Tennessee Valley Vipers in exchange for former quarterback Ryan Porter. The one-year af2 lineman will provide more depth to an already strong offensive line for the Wolves at the center position. The Georgia Southern graduate played eight games for the Vipers in 2007 and five in 2006 at the center position. During his college career Motte was a fixture on the Georgia Southern offensive line and a two-time All-American (First Team in 2005, Second Team in 2004), while also earning a First Team SoCon selection in 2005. The Alabama native played and started in all 12 games during his senior season as he collected 200 blocks along with 75 knockdowns.
"We traded to get Chad for two reasons. He's a solid lineman that will upgrade the offensive side of the ball," said Bennett on trading Porter for Motte. "His addition will allow Jimmy Williams and Darnerius Watson to play more defensively, which upgrades that side of the ball. Bringing him in adds to an already solid group."
Belmonte (5'10,180), a rookie from Saginaw Valley State University (2005-2006), will come to the Wolves after playing five games for the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz this season where he connected on 29-of-34 extra point tries and 2-of-6 field goal attempts. During his senior year at Saginaw Valley he connected on 4-of-8 field goal tries and was 29-of-31 on extra point attempts. Belmonte was teammates with Wolves starting quarterback Mark Radlinski at Saginaw Valley in 2005 and will replace the five-year veteran Pohlman who left the Wolves squad due to personal reasons.
"We're sorry to see Dylan go, but he decided he needed to move on and we wish him the best," added Bennett on Pohlman's departure from the Wolves after being with the team since 2006. "In Bobby Belmonte we think we have added a kicker who can really help this team."
The Wolves (4-4) will take on the Tulsa Talons (7-1) this Friday, June 1, at 7:05pm on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. Everyone through the doors will receive a FREE Bellman's Jewelers bingo card for a chance to win $20,000 and numerous other prizes along with a FREE cruise pass from the Isle of Shoals!
