Manchester Wolves News Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 23, 2004) - The Manchester Wolves (arenafootball2) face their third road test of the 2004 season when they travel to Macon, GA this Saturday (April 24) to take on the Macon Knights. The Wolves (1-2) are looking to win their second straight game and even their record at 2-2. Saturday's game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at the Macon Coliseum.

Fans who want to cheer on the Wolves from their homes in New Hampshire can listen to the action live on WFEA AM 1370. Local radio veteran Dick Lutsk will provide the play-by-play. Despite Macon's current 0-2 standing, the Wolves face a tough task ahead. The Knights are in a bad mood because of their slow start and don't want to start the season 0-3, especially after having made it all the way to the ArenaCup final in 2003.

"Macon has some talented players on their team who know the game," Wolves Head Coach Rik Richards said. "I expect a real tough battle tomorrow night. But I also feel confident in my guys. As long as we play smart and get some defensive stops, I think we'll come out on top."

This Saturday's matchup at a glance - Manchester Wolves (1-2) at Macon Knights (0-2)

Saturday's game is the first all-time meeting between the Wolves and the Knights. Macon, after making a run all the way to the 2003 ArenaCup Championship game, has started out slow in 2004. They have a new coach in Mike Hold and a new quarterback in Caleb Slover. So far the two haven't been able to get the Knights on track. On the season, Slover has thrown for 492 yards with eight touchdowns and five interceptions. One player the Wolves will need to watch out for is WR/LB Jamaal Garman. Garman has 13 catches on the season, six of which have gone for touchdowns. The Wolves will count on their surging offensive unit, led by QB Chris Sanders. Sanders has dusted off his slow start and will look to continue his solid play in Georgia. He currently ranks third in the af2 in all-purpose yards with 760. Fans should also expect more exploits from the receiving corps of George Williams and Reggie Robinson. Together the two have combined for 413 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. Look for recently activated receiver Mel Long to get involved in the air attack as well. Long was a second-team American Conference all-af2 player last year with the Mohegan Wolves, catching 81 passes for 1,271 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Wolves Game Three Recap - 4/16/04 - The Manchester Wolves won their first game of the 2004 season, 47-34, last Friday night against the Albany Conquest at Pepsi Arena. The Wolves offense got on track early and never looked back. The trio of QB Chris Sanders, WR/DB Reggie Robinson and WR/DB George Williams proved to be much more than the Albany defense could handle. Sanders, named the game's Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game, threw for 298 yards and six touchdowns. Robinson earned Army Ironman of the Game accolades with 11 catches, 125 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a crucial 10-yard touchdown run with just over 1:00 minute to play in the game to seal the win. Williams had six catches (three for TDs) for 106 yards and one interception on defense. Manchester's defense also looked strong, forcing seven Conquest turnovers (4 interceptions, 3 fumbles). WR/DB Marvin Owens, voted the ADT Defensive Player of the Game, led the team individually with 4.0 tackles and two interceptions.
