With Training Camp Underway, Storm Continue to Add Talent

The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is proud to announce the signings of offensive lineman Phil Kooistra, defensive back Marcus Davis, and linebacker Chris McClellan for the 2007 season. All will be entering their first season with the Storm after having successful college careers.

Kooistra anchored the Northwestern University (IA) offensive line from 2003 to 2006. Kooistra, who is 6'3" 275lb, began receiving accolades in 2005 as a junior when he was elected to the First-Team All- Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) team and voted Northwestern offensive line MVP. In 2006, he helped pave the way for an offense that averaged 36.8 points and 317 total yards per game. Kooistra's outstanding season netted him All-GPAC First-Team, Victory Sports Network's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American Second-Team, Don Hansen's Football Gazette NAIA West All-Region First-Team, Second-Team NAIA All-American, and All-American Bowl Lineman of the Game.

Davis transferred from Dickinson State in North Dakota to the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2005. He started the final 11 games and recorded 41 tackles, 15 pass breakups, and 4 interceptions for the 2005 season. With his 4.48-4.52 range forty speed and by setting a school record with 719 total kickoff return yards in 2005, the 6'0" 195lb cornerback gained the reputation of an explosive return man. He was 2005 Second-Team All-North Central Conference, and a 2005 Fourth-Team CollegeSportsReport.com All-Division II selection.

McClellan started his college career at Rainy River Community College in Minnesota in 2001. From there, McClellan transferred to Si Tanka University in Huron for the 2004 season and Northern State University for the 2005 season. In his one and only season at Northern State in 2005, he posted 54 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 1 interception, and 4 blocked kicks. The 5'11 210lb linebacker received Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Co-Special Team Player of the Week honors for blocking a punt and potential game-winning field goal in a come from behind win over Concordia-St.Paul.
