Winterhawks Alumni Clouston Promoted to General Manager and Head Coach in Kamloops

Portland, Ore. - Tuesday morning, the Kamloops Blazers announced the promotion of former Winterhawk captain and assistant coach Shaun Clouston, naming him as the team's general manager and head coach.

Clouston, 53, made his Winterhawks debut in the 1986 Western Hockey League Playoffs before going on to play for the team until 1989. He wore the "C" for the club in his final two seasons, eventually totaling 202 points in 210 games.

After a seven-year professional career, Clouston transitioned to coaching, spending the 2001-02 season as an assistant coach in Portland.

Since then, the Viking, Alberta-born product has served as the head coach for three WHL teams, Tri-City (02-03), Medicine Hat (2003-2019) and now Kamloops (2019-Present).

The Portland Winterhawks begin their 46th season of play on October 1 and will host Seattle on October 2 for the team's home opener.
