Sioux City Explorers News Release
Winnipeg, MB-----Winnipeg defeated the Explorers 15-8 here Thursday as the Goldeyes swept the three game series from Sioux City.
The Explorers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a run-scoring single by Luke Murton, the first of his three hits in the contest.
However, Winnipeg scored four runs in the bottom of the first highlighted by a three-run home run by Josh Mazzola. The Goldeyes put the game away when they sent 11 batters to the plate in the fourth inning and scored seven runs.
The Explorers had 15 hits, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the hot Winnipeg bats on a cool Canadian evening. Sam Judah had two hits including a solo home run while Murton with three hits including a two-run home run.
The Explorers will now begin a three-game series Friday at Midway Stadium in St. Paul against the Saints.
