Colorado Rapids News Release
The Colorado Rapids and Delta Dental of Colorado announced today the five winning classrooms for the Sorpresa (surprise) Delta Dental program designed to reach local Hispanic youth.
"We know that athletic role models have great power to engage children in a fun and lively way," said Lisa Konen, Community Benefits Director at Delta Dental of Colorado. "We're excited that these kids will be able to learn about good oral health at their school and attend a Rapids game. Our mission, as a nonprofit company, is to improve the oral health of the communities we serve."
The Colorado Rapids and Delta Dental reviewed all nominations and selected five elementary school classrooms that best describe why they should be selected for the Sorpresa visit. The five winners are:
- Beach Court Elementary
- Brantner Elementary
- Hillcrest Elementary
- Knapp Elementary
- Swansea Elementary
For the last month, local elementary schools had the opportunity to apply for a Sorpresa prize package, which will include a Rapids player visit, a Rapids mascot appearance, a Delta Dental Tooth Fairy appearance, a voucher to a Rapids match as well as Rapids and Delta Dental prize packs. The person that submitted the nomination form will be notified by a Rapids representative of what prize package each classroom has won.
Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP), another valued partner of the Colorado Rapids, will also be participating in the Sorpresa Program as a supporting sponsor. In collaboration with the Rapids Street Team, RMHP will be providing a supplemental gift in the prize packs.
Delta Dental of Colorado, a nonprofit company, is the state's leading dental benefits company and the only one based in the state of Colorado. Over the past ten years, Delta Dental has given
