FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Thursday, May 21, 2015) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers will travel to face United Soccer League (USL) side Charleston Battery in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Third Round on Wednesday (May 27) at 7:30 p.m. EDT at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC.

If the Strikers get past the Battery, the Red & Gold will travel to face Major League Soccer's Orlando City SC on June 17 in the Fourth Round. The matchups for the U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round were determined earlier this evening via a draw by U.S. Soccer.

In the Second Round, Charleston squeaked past National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) visitors Miami United FC in a scrappy 1-0 contest to advance to the Third Round and earn the right to host the the Strikers.

The Battery announced plans to webcast the match against the Strikers live on the club's YouTube channel.

Founded in 1993, the Battery are one of only two non-MLS teams to appear in the U.S. Open Cup Final since the inception of MLS in 1996. The Battery fell to a 2-1 defeat to D.C. United in 2008. The club has won its league a total of four times.

Fort Lauderdale's potential Fourth Round opponent, Orlando City, is in their first season in MLS following four years in the third-division USL. Captained by Brazilian playmaker and former World Player of the Year Kaká, the Lions are currently 3-3-5 (W-T-L) in their maiden MLS campaign.
