Wings to Open Playoffs at Rochester
April 29, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) will play their first playoff game since 2008 when they take on the Rochester Knighthawks at Blue Cross Arena on Friday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m.
The Wings finished the regular season with a record of 7-9 and in third place in the NLL's East Division. Although the Knighthawks also finished the season at 7-9 they hold the season tiebreaker over the Wings after sweeping the season series, and as a result will host the first round playoff game Friday.
After finishing 5-11 in 2011, the Wings started off 2012 strong en route to a 7-4 start behind the strong play of new additions Dan Dawson and Kevin Crowley, but have struggled lately dropping their past five contests.
With a win Friday the Wings will move one step closer to earning their league record seventh NLL Championship. Friday's game can be seen live on the NLL Network.
