TORONTO, ON - The Philadelphia Wings (6-9) were defeated by the East Division leading Toronto Rock by a score of 14-13 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON. The Wings meet the Minnesota Swarm in their final game of the 2006 season on Friday, April 15 at the Xcel Energy Center at 7:30 p.m.

"We had an incredibly disappointing fourth quarter," said Wings' General Manager and Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "Putting together four good quarters of lacrosse is something we've worked on all season, but we definitely weren't there tonight."

The Wings got a quick start in the first quarter with three straight goals (Marc Morley, Dan Finck, Tom Marechek). But the Rock answered with three straight of their own (Nick Tredeau, Blaine Manning, Colin Doyle). The Wings regained their lead with two additional straight goals (Dan Marohl, Jeff Ratcliffe). At the end of the first quarter, the Wings held a 5-3 lead.

Philadelphia scored the first goal in the second quarter when Andrew Burkholder scored his first of the game. The Rock got back on the board when Josh Sanderson scored his first of the afternoon. The Wings finished the quarter with goals by Marohl and Tom Marechek to make the score 8-4. Wings goaltender Dallas Eliuk had 18 saves in the first half while Rock goaltender Bob Watson had 22.

The Wings started off the scoring in the third quarter when Marechek scored his second of the game. The Rock's Doyle scored two straight to cut the Wings' lead to three. Philadelphia scored two more (Burkholder, Morley) to keep an 11-6 lead after three quarters of play.

The Wings started the scoring again in the fourth quarter with two straight goals (Morley, Marechek). The Rock then went on a six-goal scoring streak (Manning, Manning, Brian Beisel, Aaron Wilson, J. Sanderson, Jimmy Quinlan). The Wings then made a goaltending change substituting Nick Schroeder for Dallas Eliuk. Toronto tied the game at 13 on a goal by Chris Driscoll. Toronto scored the game-winning goal when Josh Sanderson scored his third of the night at 13:48. At the end of the night the Toronto Rock prevailed by a score of 14-13. Dallas Eliuk finished the night with 32 saves for the Wings while Nick Schroeder finished with three. Rock goaltender Bob Watson had 36 saves in the game.

Leading the Wings in scoring were Tom Marechek with five points (4G, 1A), Andrew Burkholder with four points (2G, 2A), Jeff Ratcliffe with four points (1G, 3A), Marc Morley with three goals, Dan Marohl with three points (2G, 1A), and Dan Finck with one goal.

Notes: The Wings were eliminated from post-game play for the third straight season when the Rochester Knighthawks defeated the San Jose Stealth on Friday night ... Twelve-year forward Tom Marechek played his final game at the Wachovia Center last night. Marechek, the Wings all-time leading point scorer, announced his retirement from indoor lacrosse effective at the end of the 2005 season.
