The National Lacrosse League awarded its 2006 All-Star Game to the Toronto Rock, who will host the contest at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday, February 25th, 2006. The announcement was made at Air Canada Centre on Sunday afternoon, prior to the Toronto Rock hosting the Philadelphia Wings. "The Toronto Rock fans are among the best in the league, and we're excited to bring the All-Star Game to Toronto next season", said NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings. "It's a well deserved honor for the city of Toronto, the Rock ownership group, but most importantly to the Toronto Rock fans who have supported this team with record crowds over the past few years. We're pleased to showcase the best lacrosse players in the world in Toronto in 2006."
"We're pleased to be bringing this great event to our fans in Toronto", said Rock President Brad Watters. "Our fans will fill the ACC for the All-Star Game, just as they do for all of our games."
Further details about the game and activities surrounding All-Star Weekend will be announced at a later date.
The 2005 All-Star Game was hosted by the Calgary Roughnecks at the Pengrowth Saddledome. The East All-Stars defeated the West All-Stars by a score of 11-10 in overtime. A national audience watched the contest live on NBC.
