
Wings Fall 10-6 in Season Opener

The Philadelphia Wings (0-1) were defeated by the Boston Blazers (1-0) tonight at the Wells Fargo Center as the Wings began their 25th Anniversary season.
Boston standout forward Casey Powell finished the game with five goals and Josh Sanderson added three. After one period the Wings and Blazers were tied 3-3. Wings goals by Bill McGlone, Alex Turner and Drew Westervelt kept the Wings even with the Blazers.
In the second half the Blazers pulled away, outscoring the Wings 5-2. Josh Sanderson scored two fourth quarter goals for the Blazers to seal the victory. To the delight of the Wings crowd, fan favorite Athan Iannucci scored his first goal of the season with just under four minutes left to play. Turner and McGlone each finished with two goals apiece.
The Wings return to the Wells Fargo Center next Saturday, Jan. 15 to host the Buffalo Bandits at 7:30 p.m. Fans can enjoy $1 hotdogs presented by Dietz & Watson. Next Saturday night's game against Buffalo will be broadcast in high definition on the Comcast Network.
