Wings Athan Iannucci Placed On Injured Reserve

Philadelphia Wings All-Pro forward and former National Lacrosse League Most Valuable Player Athan Iannucci has been placed on the injured reserve list, according to Wings General Manager David Huntley. Iannucci was limited in 2009 after surgery to repair a knee injury he suffered while playing for Major Series Lacrosse's St. Regis Indians in 2008. He reinjured the knee in and a second surgery was completed two weeks ago. Iannucci will be rehabilitating in his home city of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Iannucci played in 10 games for the Wings in 2009 and accumulated 37 points (23G, 14A). He also picked up 38 loose balls and was named the NLL "Overall Player of the Week" for week 12 of the season. In 2008, Iannucci set a new NLL single season goal scoring record, netting 71 goals in 16 regular season games. He also received the NLL's Player of the Month Award three out of the four months of the season (January, February, April), a league first. Iannucci was originally drafted by the Wings in the first round (eighth overall) in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft after finishing his standout college career at Hofstra University.
