
Wings Announce Protected List for Expansion Draft

The Philadelphia Wings announced their protected player list for the 2008 National Lacrosse League Expansion Draft. The date of the draft, which will supply the new Boston Blazers franchise with their initial roster, will take place on Thursday, July 24 at 2 p.m. Eastern.
The Wings' protected list includes goaltenders Brandon Miller and Rob Blasdell; forwards Athan Iannucci, Drew Westervelt, Merrick Thomson, and Kyle Wailes; transition players Geoff Snider and Rob Van Beek and defensemen Thomas Hajek, Kyle Sweeney, Shawn Nadelen, and Taylor Wray.
Each club can protect a maximum of fourteen players on its roster from being selected in the Expansion Draft. Teams are given the option of protecting one goaltender and thirteen runners, or two goaltenders and ten runners. Draft results will be posted live at the league's official website, nll.com.
The Blazers will select one player from each of the twelve other NLL franchises. Boston recently acquired its first player, All-Star Dan Dawson, in the NLL Dispersal Draft.
