Portland Announces Protected Player List

PORTLAND, July 8, 2008 - The National Lacrosse League's newest franchise, the Boston Blazers, will continue to see its roster take shape on Thursday, July 24th at 11 a.m. PST during the NLL Expansion Draft. Boston will be able to select a maximum of 12 players (one from each of the other 12 clubs) in the expansion draft. No team will lose more than one player.

Clubs were able to protect up to 14 players on their roster. Teams could either protect one goalie and 13 runners (forwards/defensemen/transition players) or two goalies and 10 runners.

Portland LumberJax Head Coach/General Manager Derek Keenan opted to protect two goalies and 10 runners. Keenan protected goalies Matt Disher and Joel Weber.

The 10 protected runners are: transition player Tyler Codron, defensemen Pat Jones, Brad MacDonald, Brodie Merrill and Richard Morgan, and forwards Cory Conway, Peter Jacobs, Peter Morgan, Ryan Powell and Scott Stewart.

Unprotected players include: goalie Dallas Eliuk, transition players Adam Bysouth and Scott Stapleford, defensemen Bruce Alexander, Matt Dwane, Ray Guze, Mike Kilby, Scott Mazuran, Kyle McEwen, David Morgan and Jonathan Munk and forwards Derek Lowe, Derek Malawsky and Spencer Martin.
