WICHITA, Kans. - The Wichita Wingnuts will have a new voice on the airwaves in 2018. Wichita native Denning Gerig has been named Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager for the upcoming campaign, the team announced Thursday.

"For the past 10 years, the Wingnuts have been very fortunate to have some tremendous radio broadcasters who have provided our fans with quality broadcasts," Wingnuts General Manager Josh Robertson said. "We are very excited to have Denning, a local Wichitan and one of our own, painting a picture of the game for our listeners."

Gerig served as the Wingnuts Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant last season. Prior to his time with the Wingnuts, Gerig spent the previous two years as the voice of the Derby Twins, a local summer collegiate team. During the offseason, he broadcasts women's basketball and volleyball for Wichita State University, where he graduated in 2016.

"I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of such an outstanding organization," Gerig said. "I've followed the Wingnuts since their first game in Wichita, and recognize how important baseball is to the fabric of this city. I look forward to calling championship-caliber baseball in 2018."

Gerig succeeds Rob Low, who departs after two seasons in the booth.

All Wingnuts games, home and away, will be carried on Sports Radio 93.9 FM and 1410 AM KGSO.
