
Wilkinson Shines as Threshers Fan 16 in Victory

CLEARWATER, FL - Jean Cabrera and Danny Wilkinson combined to strike out fourteen of the sixteen total punch-outs as the Clearwater Threshers (27-9) cruised to a 10-3 victory over the Bradenton Marauders (20-16) on Thursday night at BayCare Ballpark. The Threshers go for their fourth-straight win against Bradenton on Friday night.
Bradenton got on the board with a two-out double in the first, but Clearwater put their first three runners on base in the home half of the inning. Bryan Rincon fell into an 0-2 count against Marauders starter Alessandro Ercolani but drew a walk to lead off the first. Justin Crawford reached on a bunt single, and an error by third baseman Jack Brannigan moved both runners into scoring position. Otto Kemp gave Clearwater the lead 2-1 on a triple to center.
Rincon led off the third with a solo home run to straightaway center to make it 3-1 Threshers. Crawford singled, Kemp and Dissin then walked to load the bases. Emaarion Boyd drove in two on a base-hit to right-center to extend the advantage to 5-1.
Marauders reliever Yoldin De La Paz walked Freylin Minyety on four pitches to lead off the fourth, and he stole second before Crawford reached on an infield single to advance him to third. Minyety scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Kemp to make it 6-1 Threshers.
Termarr Johnson hit a solo homer in the fifth to cut the Clearwater lead to 6-2. A leadoff triple and an RBI groundout put the score within three runs at 6-3 after the sixth. Ricardo Rosario reached on an error to lead off the eighth, Chad Castillo walked and Minyety singled to score Rosario from second and make it 7-3 Threshers.
Rincon singled to load the bases before Crawford reached on a fielder's choice. On the throw home, Bradenton second baseman Termarr Johnson made an errant throw that allowed Castillo to score from third and make it 8-3. Kemp drove in his fourth run of the game on a fielder's choice that plated Minyety and moved Rincon to third. Jordan Viars drove in a run for the second straight game on a sacrifice fly to right that made it 10-3 Threshers. Clearwater ended the ninth on a double-play to capture their third-straight victory in a 10-3 win.
Cabrera threw 4.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and a career-best nine strikeouts in a no-decision. Jonh Henriquez struck out one, walked two and allowed two runs on four hits in 2.0 innings. Wilkinson (1-0) struck out five of the six batters he faced in 2.0 shutout innings to earn the win. Andrew Walling walked two and struck out one in a scoreless ninth.
Cabrera set a new season-best mark for himself and the Threshers with nine strikeouts... It tied his career high that he set in September of 2021... Wilkinson earned his first career victory... Rincon homered for the second-straight game... Crawford tied a career-high with three hits... Kemp became the second Threshers player this season (and series) with four RBIs in the game... Clearwater's pitching staff struck out 16 batters for the second time against Bradenton this year... They have won five straight games against Bradenton and 15-straight at home...
