Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release

Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers have added another offensive and defensive threat to the team's roster in time for this weekend's game against the Rochester Brigade.

Wide receiver/defensive back Harry Brunson, who played against the Pioneers during the June 1st game with Rochester, was assigned to the team by the af2 early Thursday. Brunson, who also saw limited action with the Norfolk Nighthawks this year, was signed to fill the void left in the Pioneers' line-up by the departure of WR/DB Matt Jackson earlier this month.

"This signing gives us a guy with arena experience who is solid defensively and can play very well off the net," said Pioneers Head Coach Terry Karg.

Brunson competed collegially at Bowie State from 1998 to 2001, where he registered 152 tackles (89 solo), eight interceptions, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Saturday's game against the Brigade will determine which team holds the tiebreaker for the Northeast Divisions second playoff spot. It will also be the only time this season in which the Pioneers will face former team captain LaMonte Coleman, who was picked up by Rochester after being re-assigned by Coach Karg late last month.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's next home game will be July 6th against the New Haven Ninjas. For ticket information, please call 570-270-5811. Fans are reminded that Fanfest kicks off at 5:30pm before every Pioneers home game.
