Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release

Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers have announced that former East Stroudsburg quarterback Jeremy Palm and Pioneers inaugural season players Elly Salamo, Kevin Nagle, and Chad Clark have been assigned by the af2 to the team's training camp roster.

"Jeremy has great potential," said Pioneers Head Coach Dean Cokinos. "He had an outstanding career at ESU. We're excited to have him on board."

During his college career, Palm completed 438 passes for 4,467 yards and 40 touchdowns. He was the leading passer in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference his senior year, finishing first in passing yards (244.4 yds/gm) and total offense (264.6 yds/gm) while throwing for 2,200 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The Pioneers were also reassigned fullbacks/linebackers Elly Salamo and Kevin Nagle for training camp.

Salamo appeared in 13 games during the inaugural season, rushing 50 times for 217 yards and eight touchdowns. He also scored once as a receiver. Defensively, he recorded 25.5 tackles (22 solo, seven assisted) and three blocked kicks.

"Elly's a cut above the competition. He has the potential to be one of the most exciting players in the af2, and Nagle's the type of player who can provide the veteran leadership needed heading into camp and beyond," said Cokinos.

Nagle played in all 16 regular season games for the Pioneers, finishing third on the team with 46 tackles (35 solo, 22 assisted). Offensively, he rushed for six touchdowns.

Offensive/defensive lineman Chad Clark will also return from the 2002 season. Clark appeared in three games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last year, recording eight solo tackles and two assists.

"You need guys like Chad on the roster," said Cokinos. "He gives it his all every time he steps on the field. He's a scrapper."

The Pioneers 2003 home opener will take place Friday, April 11th against the Mohegan Wolves, and has been designated "Johnny Unitas Tribute Night." Anyone interested in season, group, or individual game tickets may contact the team's ticketing office at (570) 270-5811 or (570) 270-3848.
