
Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins Sign Lane Caffaro

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed defenseman Lane Caffaro to an American Hockey League contract, it was announced on Tuesday.
Caffaro, 25, spent four seasons suiting up for Union College, where he posted 79 points (23+56) and 227 penalty minutes in 135 games.
The 6-1, 190 pound blueliner from Slave Lake, Alberta led Union defensemen with 22 points this past season, and earned All-ECAC First Team honors. Caffaro was also named to the All-ECAC second team in 2007-08 after recording 16 points (3+13) in 33 games with Union.
Caffaro signed an Amateur Tryout Contract with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton following completion of his senior season, and made his American Hockey League debut on April 8 against the Norfolk Admirals. He recorded his first point, an assist, on April 12 at Hershey.
