Springfield rounded out the scoring in the second with a power play goal from Jared Kohn which left the score at 3-1 in favor of the Wildcats.

The third period was filled with penalties which provided both teams with opportunities that they took advantage of. Davide Nicolette scored a power play goal to pull the Jr. Blues within a goal. Then with just 4 minutes and 15 seconds remaining in regulation Cory Spradling tied the game for the Springfield team. Springfield was called for a holding penalty with 15 seconds remaining in the third period which allowed the Wildcats to be on the power play at the beginning of the overtime frame. Veteran leadership from the two top scorers for the Wildcats came through big, only 32 seconds into the overtime period Chris Ochoa scored the sudden death goal to get the 2 points for the Cats.

Coach Perkins of the Wildcats said "Our team played very well in the 1st and 2nd periods; however the 3rd was marred by penalties. We were unable to get into a flow due to the penalties and Springfield was able to take advantage of their opportunities in the third period". We were fortunate to get a call late in the game that put us on the power play and it didn't take us long to score in overtime with the man advantage. Kyle Pidde made a great play to keep the puck in the zone and passed the puck to Kyle Kraemer who then mad a great pass to set up Chris Ochoa who ended up finishing it off for us".
