LEONARD'S SIX POINTS CAPTURES SHER-WOOD NAHL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Highlighted by a five-point game against Mahoning Valley, Cleveland Barons forward Josh Leonard tallied six points in two games against the Phantoms and has been named Sher-wood NAHL Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 13.

On Saturday, November 12, the Phantoms jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over eight minutes into the game. Less than a minute later, the Allen Park, Michigan native started the play that led to the Barons' tying goal. Two and a half minutes later, he scored a goal of his own, his 13th of the season, and it proved to be the eventual game winner. With score still 2-1 early in the second period, the Barons exploded for three goals in just over six minutes and Leonard set up all of them as his team built a 5-1 lead. Cleveland cruised to a 7-1 triumph.

The following afternoon, the Barons shut out Mahoning Valley 3-0 in the rematch and Leonard set up league-leading scorer Carter Camper for the game-winner.

With his big week, Leonard has moved up behind Camper into second spot in the NAHL scoring race.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Nielsson Arcibal (Texas), Sean Bertsch (Billings), Patrick Dynan (North Iowa), Josh Heidinger (Bozeman), Richard Leitner (Wasilla), Chris Ochoa (Wichita Falls), Dan Swanson (Minnesota), Jason Wiley (Southern Minnesota)

JAROSZ, CARLSON SHARE SHER-WOOD NAHL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

A goaltender and a defenseman, both Junior hockey veterans, have been selected as co-winners of the Sher-wood NAHL Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 13.

With two wins, including a shutout, Cleveland goalie Bobby Jarosz backstopped his team to a two game sweep of the Mahoning Valley Phantoms over the weekend. On Saturday evening, the Crystal Lake, Illinois native stopped 33 of the 34 Phantoms shots, surrendering only a first period goal, as the Barons triumphed 7-1. Coming right back the next afternoon, Jarosz turned aside all 28 Phantoms shots, registering not only his first shutout in Junior hockey, but the first Barons shutout in over three years. The two wins helped solidify Cleveland's hold on the second spot in the North Division

Southern Minnesota Express defenseman Jeff Carlson tallied five points in three games against the Central Division leaders, the Minnesota Blizzard and the Fargo-Moorhead Jets. On Friday, November 11, with the Blizzard taking a 1-0 lead into the third period, the Richfield, Minnesota native set up a goal that evened the score 1-1. When the Blizzard retook the lead five minutes later, Carlson set up another goal to tie the score at 2-2. The Blizzard went on to eventually win the game in overtime. In the rematch the following day, the Express took a 1-0 lead into the third when Carlson set up the second Southern Minnesota goal to extend the lead. When the Blizzard pulled their goalie late in the game, Carlson fired the puck into the empty net to seal the win. The Jets came to Owatonna the next day and tied the score 1-1 in the first period. Quarterbacking the Express' power play, Carlson set up a go-ahead goal two minutes later. The Express would go on to win the game in a shootout. With his goal and four assists, Carlson has moved into the top 10 leaders in scoring among NAHL defensemen.

HONORARY MENTION: Dustin Carlson (Minnesota), Mike Garman (Springfield), Josh Erhardt (Billings), Graham McManiman (Bozeman), Cody Mosbeck (North Iowa), Kyle Pidde (Wichita Falls), Dervin Stonehouse (Texas), Dan Vasquez (Helena), Andrew Volkening (Wasilla)
